The Lady Hornets beat Lufkin 5-0 to begin the second round of district play on Friday night. JJ Duke collected 3 hits in her 4 at bats to lead the Hornets past the Panthers 5-0 on Friday night.
Huntsville jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the first inning after Aariss McHale singled scoring one run and an error in the field let to two.
Huntsville scratched again in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo home run to center field by JJ Duke.
Duke earned the win for the Hornets in the circle. The righty surrendered 3 hits on zero runs over seven innings of work while striking out 7 and walking none. Huntsville amassed 10 hits in the game. Duke and McHale were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected 3 hits for the Hornets while hitting back to back. Emily Zunker, Duke, and McHale all drove in one run for Huntsville. While Khlow Klawinsky collected two hits for Huntsville in her four at bats.
Huntsville will travel to Kingwood Park for their next district matchup on Tuesday, April 9.
