JJ Duke collected three hits in four at bats, as Huntsville defeated Nacogdoches 13-2 on Friday. Duke hit a home run to left field in the 4th inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.
Huntsville won thanks in part to a 7 run third inning. Jaz Enriquez singled, scoring one run, Chloe Sanders singled, scoring two runs, Valerie Martin singled, scoring one run, Aariss McHale singled, scoring one run, and Katie Vonrosenberg singled, scoring one run.
Four more Huntsville runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 13-2. Sanders doubled scoring one run, Khlow Klawinsky singled, scoring one run, and Duke homered to left field scoring two runs.
Rylie Hammond earned the win for Huntsville. The right handed pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Huntsville tallied 19 hits in the game. Sanders went 2-for-2 at the plate as she led the team with three runs batted in. McHale led Huntsville with four hits in four at bats. Duke, Kali Klawinsky, Vonrosenberg, Martin, and Klawinsky each collected multiple hits for Huntsville. Sanders stole two bases. Huntsville ran wild on the bases, amassing seven stolen bases for the game. Huntsville turned one double play in the game and were sure handed while they did not commit a single error. Duke made the most plays with four.
Huntsville will play at home on Tuesday vs Dayton @ 6:30 PM.
