Huntsville defeated Lufkin 2-1 on Tuesday night to open district play. JJ Duke went the distance for the Lady Hornets and recorded 21 outs in the game.

Duke struck out 15 batters on the night while surrendering just 1 run over 7 innings of work and walking none. Huntsville opened up the scoring after a slow start, when senior Aarriss McHale homered to left center driving in two runs and putting Huntsville ahead by 2 runs. McHale also would go 2-3 at the plate on the day while Duke, Katie Vonrosenberg, Khloe Klawinsky, and Jaz Enriquez each collected one hit to help on offense.

The Hornets look to keep momentum as they host Kingwood Park in another tough district match up this Friday Night. We will also be honoring our Class of 2024 Seniors in between the JV and Varsity games for our Senior Night!! JV begins at 5:00 and Varsity will follow shortly after Senior Night Festivities at 6:30 PM.
